Over the four planning sessions the following "pitchers" came to the area:
- Patsy McShane, outlining the Workspace story from Draperstown, south
Derry
- Kenny Murtagh, setting out the backgrounds to the Carrick Carnival and
the successful tourism-related joint-working that has been developed in
Carrick-on-Shannon
- John O’Neill, putting forward the BEAM arts-based social economy
business from Donaghmore, Co Tyrone
- Anna-Maria O’Rourke on arts and crafts-based enterprise in Leitrim
- Simon Wall, Westport Town Architect, explaining the recent and ongoing
renaissance of Westport
- Pat O’Neill, effectively a founder of Tyrone’s now world-leading
materials-handling engineering industry
- A Study Trip to Tyrone and Derry looking at and hearing from:
An Creagan’s successful development of tourist accommodation
Pomeroy’s burgeoning ‘Santa’s Magical Forest project
Mid-Ulster District Council’s Davagh Forest-based mountain-biking
initiative
Workspace, Draperstown’s projects on-the-ground
Lissan House, a community-based regeneration of a deteriorating former
landed gentry home
A final workshop will be held shortly to finalise the plan for the area which will be officially launched in 2016.
