“Play Your Part...Help Bring Our People Home”

The four GAA County Committees and 4 local authorities in Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford and Cavan are joining forces under a project called “Play Your Part...Help Bring Our People Home”. The project also has the strong support of Bord na Mona and Connect Ireland who help work with companies thinking of locating in Ireland. The purpose is:

- showcasing the jobs that companies already in the region have on offer

- utilising the networks of the broader GAA community to harness opportunities to bring companies into the region.

Aim of the project:                  To use all our collective contacts in the four counties to reach out across the world to our contacts to ensure we give the best  help to create jobs in the region which is part of the Upper Shannon Erne Region.

Date and Venue:                     There is an event planned for Thursday night, May 8th at 8pm in the Longford Arms Hotel with Guest Speaker Hugh Morris, who is someone who used his contacts to bring a business to his home area through the Connect Ireland initiative.

There will be a Panel Discussion on Upcoming Championship with reps from each of the Four Counties

Roscommon:         Frankie Dolan

Leitrim:                   Seamus Quinn

Longford:               Gerry Hagan

Cavan:                    Stephen King

“A number of companies in the four counties which have job openings will be there on the night looking to make contact with jobseekers at home or abroad."

Hoped for Outcome:               To have someone from every Ladies and Men’s GAA club in the four counties in attendance so as to understand that potentially each one of their club members and friends and relatives can become a “Connector” which can create a link between someone in a company abroad who may be considering a European location for expansion or set up. There is a reward for each job created (subject to certain conditions) and this can be kept by the connector, given to their club or a charity. – so a good fundraising model for any club

Organising Committee:         Is made up of local business people who are volunteering their

time and energy, Bord na Mona and council staff with support from club members.
