Leitrim Business Showcased in the Heart of Dublin

VistaMed, Cora Systems, the Shed Distillery highlighted to all in attendance at the Leitrim Investment Event in Dublin how you can turn your business idea into a very successful venture in Leitrim. VistaMed  gave an insight into how a medical device business now employing 390 people are continuing to expand from their three bases in Leitrim, Cora Systems, a project management software business now employ 50 people and hope to double those numbers in the next year. Pat Rigney of the Shed Distillery shared the story of opening the first distillery in Connacht in 101 years in the Food hub in Drumshanbo. All emphasised the quality staff they have working for them in Leitrim, the high retention levels and the quality support from local government and enterprise agencies in Leitrim.

Frank Curran shared recent developments in Leitrim across economic development, tourism, infrastructure and supports to business emphasising that Leitrim is open to business. Padraic White, Chairman of Collins-McNicholas Recruitment Agency showed that 87% of people who move to this area for work would recommend it to others.

Carrick on Shannon becomes newest and smallest town ever to get Purple Flag Status

Carrick on Shannon is celebrating  after learning it has achieved the prestigious Purple Flag status for its evening and night-time economy. Purple Flag is a town and city centre award – similar to the Blue Flag for beaches – which aims to raise the standard and broaden the appeal of town and city centres between the hours of 18:00 & 05:00. Towns awarded the Purple Flag are recognised for providing a vibrant mix of entertainment while promoting the safety and wellbeing of visitors and local residents.

Local Development Strategy for Rural Development Programme

Leitrim Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) are responsible for preparing the Local Development Strategy for  the new LEADER Rural Development Programme worth approx. €5.9 million to County Leitrim.

The Local Development Strategy currently being prepared  gives everyone the opportunity to have their say in identifying priorities for funding.

Consultation Evenings will be take place in ten venues across the county.

Draft Leitrim County Council Economic Strategy Available for Public Consultation

Leitrim County Council has prepared a draft Economic Strategy for the county for 2015 – 2021 . The document sets out a vision and high level actions for the county across different economic sectors for the next 6 years. Comments on the draft Strategy should be emailed to lcdc@leitrimcoco.ie on or before August 17th 2015.

Leitrim County Council’s newly established Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) and Leitrim County Council have completed the first final draft of the 6 year Local Economic and Community Plan 2015 – 2021 which is now available for review and comment by emailing lcdc@leitrimcoco.ie on or before August 17th 2015.
